FJA™ selected for Sydney Metro – Bankstown Line Metro Upgrade Works
FJA™ was selected by Transport for NSW, along collaboration with Arcadis, to deliver new Sydney Metro line for Bankstown. The T3 Bankstown Line creates an important bottleneck as it merges with other railway lines close to the Sydney CBD, including the T8 Airport & South Line and the Inner West & Leppington Line. In general, the rail line upgrade project will involve shifting the Bankstown line services to the new standalone metro system, removing this bottleneck, providing capacity for more trains to run on the existing network across Sydney and enabling more reliable journeys to passengers. All 11 stations between Sydenham and Bankstown will be upgraded to metro standards. Also, the stations will be accessible through lifts and level access between platforms and trains.
This work will deliver a new, fast and direct connection to Waterloo, four city stations, North Sydney, Crows Nest, Chatswood, North Ryde and Macquarie Park, all without having to change trains. Thus, commuters will experience improved station interchange options at key stations and all the trains in the network will have stoppages at every local station.
FJA™ was engaged to undertake 3D Clash Analysis and Water Service Coordinator role for the project. Besides, we digitally assessed all utility impacts and obtained authority approvals for building over assets.
Metro services are expected to start in 2024.
