Meet Krijan Maharjan

Graduate stories: Hear from Krijan

Krijan joined PRCM as a Graduate Engineer in July 2021. He completed a Master of Civil Engineering in University of Technology (UTS) and has been working full time with us since his graduation. He said his recent experience with FJA has set the foundation for an exciting career in civil engineering. As part of “What our current graduate engineers say?” series, he shared his story and highlighted journey so far. Read his graduate stories below.

What do you enjoy most while working at FJA?

The most enjoyable thing is an opportunity to work with dynamic and friendly team members who understand my strengths and weaknesses, give me time to improve weaknesses. Moreover, other small benefits such as birthday gift cards and monthly team awards motivate me more.

What soft/technical skills have you developed/improved so far?

My job demands appropriate designs, inspections as well as dealing with clients, contractors, and Sydney Water Case Managers. This has not only improved my technical skills but also other soft skills such as communication and project management skills.

What challenge(s) did you encounter while working on assigned projects? And what support did you receive from FJA team?

The job we currently do here at FJA was absolutely new to me when I first started. Hence, I needed all kind of support from every possible team member. I made couple of mistakes, and I learnt from those. I thank everyone that supported me and are constantly teaching me. It is due to team support I am now able to handle client expectations with minimal help these days.

Have you learnt any tools/software that would support your future career in civil engineering?

Everything we do at FJA is digital engineering and we use latest available technology. Sydney Water SUDS2022 is where I work on daily, hence I am now used to it. I also use CIVIL 3D for few projects. Last month, I was using and learning Leica Zeno FLX100 for capturing high accuracy GIS data which we used to prepare work-as-constructed drawings in one of our projects. Now, I am in process of learning 12D modelling.

Describe your journey so far with FJA in three words/phrases.

Progressing, motivated and ambitious.
